For a dining and/or lodging option in the Mad River Valley, look no further than the Hyde Away Inn (hydeawayinn.com) a 10-room inn (authentic Vermont breakfast included) just a few miles away from the mountain and a favorite of the friendly locals. Our room had no TV, so we played cards and shot pool in the tavern adjacent to the dining room as we waited for our favorite table by the stone fireplace.
Owners Margaret and Bruce Hyde exude the essence of Green Mountain hospitality. Margaret told us about a hiking trail behind the Inn, and even offered to lend us snowshoes. The view of Sugarbush on our one-hour hike was beautiful as we wandered over moose, deer, rabbit and fox tracks. Read more…
